Addicted to Knitting

Archive for February 2007

Here is yet another experiment

gone wrong.

It is usable but it didn’t turn

out the wayI had hoped.

The yarn is Plymouth Galway

Highland Heather worsted weight.

The stripes are leftovers

from the purse I did for

I had to trim the piece quite

a bit to

make it square.

My new needles came today and

they fit okay into the case.

I dont have a thing to say…really I dont. I am still working on my socks. I have 2 pair I am working on. One on size 10 using bernat softee chuncky. One complete , need to start the 2nd. The other pair is camouflage red heart on size 7 needles for my son. One almost complete…to large for him will fit me. I am getting the hang of the sock thing. I just dont know how to avoid holes in my gusset.
I also knit a tiny sock with lion wool for my sock blocker key chain. I followed their instructions but used size 7 needles. It felted up so cute. I will have to post a picture of it. Its now hanging from my rear view mirror.
I gave the little girl at church her scarf. This is how knitting for
people should be. She is almost 4 years old and very shy.
I made her this scarf, modeled by chatterbox here
…… it was the most adorable moment. The little girl
opened the brown lunch sack and grinned.
She pulled out the scarf and put it to her cheek.
She was thrilled. Wore it all through services and at
the carry in. I love knit gratitude. Many a thing have
I knitted only to never know if the recipient wore or
used the item.
What I hate about being an obsessive knitter is the fact that I am wanting
something else to cast on…..I could work on my purse that I want to felt but that wont cure this itch. Its so scary to look for a project, I could end up with multiple projects. I usually do……

Look at those beautiful fingerless gloves….
Oh my I am dying to make something that nice. I want to use the beautiful red sock yarn I won from Leah. She is the person who told me to order the magazine and use this pattern. I was thumbing through the zine at the PO this morning and had to show this to Amy who works there.
Me “I am going to make these”
Amy, nodding “uh huh”
a small pause.
Amy “Hey if I am still alive when you finish them bring them in and show me”
This cracked me up! You’d think Amy knows me or something. Perhaps she is suspicious of all those packages I receive full of softy fluffy yarn. You know sometimes when you get yarn in the mail you have to rip it open right there in the post office. Add to that living in a very small town and

Now this is the hat for my wonderful brother in law Brian. When I saw it I almost shrieked. Brian is a big ole teddy bear of a guy who likes to wear hats of a different color. Much to my sister’s (who is more conservative)
dismay. Perhaps dismay is to strong a word but my brain is not working.
Very sleep deprived today cuz of sick wee one last night. I also must say my bil would make a much better model that mr college guy in the picture. No I mean…he is alright but he aint a teddy bear.

This has got to be the rasberry beret
that Prince sang about.
What a darling hat except for the pointy thing on top.
And what a darling model. Doesnt she make you think “wholesome”?
I am off to dreamland now (I hope I hope) to catch up on my much needed missed beauty sleep….
