Addicted to Knitting

Archive for May 2007

I am still working on the “touch me tunic” but I am a bit confused. This is nothing new to me… The first photo is of my first try. Note the edge has no scalloping whatsoever!
The second is of course what it should look like.

(I couldn’t find a photo on the net so I had to
snap my own.) The third is my second try.
Is it scalloping enough?
will it scallop more as I keep knitting?

These are questions that can keep me
awake at night. Or drive me to lay
aside my project to be forgotten

forever! Anyone have an opinion?

Here are
some pictures of my
sock yarn purchases. I love
the sock it to me on the right. That is for Christmas gifts for my sil, niece and son. The pink is cotton for summer socks. I am dying to start on some. I
was going to try Jaywalker but after reading some horror stories I think I will make plain ankle socks………

It seems like there is never time to sit and blog these days. sigh…life is far to busy for this gal!
I went to a Women of Faith conference this past weekend. Actually left Thurs. when I got off work and got back Sat. evening. I am so blessed with a wonderful husband who stayed home with the boys.Rachel and I did the pre-conference on Friday which was totally AWESOME. It was Sheila Walsh and Dr Henry Cloud
It was about God having a dream for your life. I sat there wondering how these two people knew what was going on in my head and my heart. I still get a bit teary thinking about it. I had forgotten how much God really loves me and that He wants me to be healed from the hurts in my past. There is so much in my life that I can see that I am reacting to my past and not my present.
I also went to a psychiatrist last Thursday to see if my meds were working. I tell you what that was hard. I didnt want to see a “shrink” and was very nervous. This guy was soooo cool and understanding. He did change my meds and at this moment I have something that has been missing for a long time… HOPE. Hope that the depression will be helped by the medication and more importantly HOPE in the one who loves me beyond imagination!
I am still knitting. I am working on the dream swatch by Wendy B
I also got brave and started the “touch me tunic” from IK’s winter mag.I am doing it in this beautiful classic elite spotlight (cotton) that is this wonderful mauvey purple color…its just yummy. This picture makes it pinker than it is. Its for my darling daughter Rachel who has been carrying far to heavy a load.
She is such a little helper and does more than here share when mom is “sick” Thats why it meant so much to me that Faith spun some yarn up just for her.
So right now my family and I are in transition and praying for guidance as we heal and go on with a better, happier mom.
I am going to post my purse pictures here too. I seem to be way behind on my posting.( perhaps that is due to the 12+ hours a day I have been sleeping…) I used patons SWS for this little cutie. I love the way SWS felts up so firm. This purse matches on of the MANY cell cases I made so I am like …so cool with matching accesories. Note that the lilacs were in bloom in the 1st picture and long gone on the 2nd. Like I said… I have been a bit slow.
Perhaps you would better understand if I share some stories with you. I wont bore you I promise….yesterday Jasbo wanted some
watermelon. I left him at the table enjoying it so that I could change out laundry (5 people make much laundry) and came back to find he had pummelled it and tossed it on the floor. UGGH! So I clean that up….later we are having pudding…yummy cooked pudding with ice cream on top…I was knitting on the tunic while the kids ate it. I suddenly heard the laughter of a three year old having far to much fun with pudding. He was using the spoon to sling it on the cat…little boys! So I am off today to get the carpet cleaner and clean the rug…that is just the tale of one child. I’ll save the others for another day! Perhaps I can get back tomorow and show photos of the sock yarn I purchased!

I know this are rather dorky looking but…I dont like long socks…
I wanted to make sock I would actually wear so here they are.
My gauge is very wonky and there are some really tight spots from where
I dropped a stitch and had to fix it….all in all I enjoyed making socks and have
already cast on for another pair. I got some great dancing from Knit Picks that is
somewhat elastic. I love the colors and am bravely going to make Jaywalkers out of it.
Yes I know I am only years behind on the fads but …..I do live in Wyoming…we are behind and we like it!
Note the wacky crop job, I was trying to get rid of my legs!!!!
I never realized I have such fat ankles!

I really like many things about word press but I miss my sidebar as I once knew it and my progress bars so….

I am back at blogger…

Come see me over there! I promise to stop moving!!!!

I am back here at blogger. I had heard that wordpress was a so much better place to blog. I did like the backgrounds over there and loved my blog name but I was frustrated there. I couldn’t use HTML and have my progress bars and goodies. I missed them so I am back.

Last night my 10y/o son had a music concert at school. Since its only 2 blocks away, I walked over early armed with a camera and the sock I am knitting (yes I am once again attempting socks.)
I was sitting quietly knitting away when the lady behind me exclaimed “What in the world are you making?”
I could see the astonishment in her eyes and assumed
her to be a “non knitter” and replied “a sock”

To which she replied “haven’t you heard of size 15 needles?” Cracked me up. But she couldn’t quit with that…she had to go on and explain to me that she knit “European” and didn’t throw the yarn over so she was much quicker. Ahh the joy of people who have to get there 10 cents in! Of course me being the perfectionist I am and being somewhat dissatisfied with my life right now, I wondered about switching my method of knitting…NAW!

So as I deal with depression and the possibility of a new medication, I continue to knit on simple projects and call that therapy.

I even got out the camera and took some pictures of sock being enjoyed my children and of sock enjoying the Canadian Chokecherry tree in my yarn. This tree and I have a love/hate relationship. When it blooms
I can smell it as I walk out my door and I love it.
When is sheds its blooms and makes berries…I hate it.
To MESSY! Then in the fall the leaves turn a fantastic red that is to die for and once again I decide against getting rid of it.
I went to Billings on Monday and found a wonderful lys that I wandered through with no purpose at all except enjoyment. I bought some new needles…oohh…check these out! These are for my next pair of socks! They are Addi turbos and came highly recommended for sock knitting. They are a bit larger that what I have been using and very slick! Of course I had to get yarn to go with the needles. I was very conservative there and got some wildfoote in the colorway columbine to make socks for my bestest girlfriend I have ever had. So that means of course finishing the pair I have started (they are str in Queenrock and will be short sock for me to wear)
Other than that I have nothing of note to report at this time.
