The worst item I ever knit

Posted on: September 9, 2007

This is a hard one. Most of the things I made when I started knitting were HORRIBLE! The one I remember most is the Mix and Match Poncho I attempted. I had no idea about gage or substituting yarns or really anything. I knit this up using Lion Boucle, and various other yarn scraps I had found at a thrift store. I assumed it would be no problem, after all the pattern said it was for beginners. Imagine my surprise when I finished my long rectangles and tried to wrap them around into a poncho shape and got the weirdest thing…..I offered it to my dog for a bed and she ignored it. So I placed it in the dumpster and hadn’t thought of it till this came up on SP11. What a great thing to remember this now and realize how far I have come.

Oh yes… the poncho. We must’ve start knitting about the same time. I have one knit up with about 10 skeins of Debbie Bliss Alaca Silk that I’m saving just to frog when the right pattern comes along.

It is fun to look back and see how far we’ve come, isn’t it? ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m hoping the things I’m knitting now are a bit more classic and long-lasting than the things I started out with. ๐Ÿ™‚
