Addicted to Knitting

Archive for April 2008

My friend Cindy raises goats and brought one by for a visit. This little guy is blind in one and abandoned by his mommy. He thinks Cindy is his mommy and follows her like a puppy dog. Jasper was in awe of the little guy. Notice that the cat was interested in as well.

I see a pattern developing here… no pun intended! I am in love with cables and bags. Put the two together and it’s a wonderful thing. I have a question about one of these bags. The pattern is Mini Messenger bag by Lori Law from 101 designer one-skein wonders. I have gauge and everything was fine till I started the flap. To me it’s obvious the flap is to narrow before felting. Would you pick up stitches on the edge and do a garter stitch border? that is what I am thinking about. It’s a graduation gift so I need to make a decision soon. I don’t want to rip it out! I hate it when these things happen. I followed the pattern so carefully.

This one is Lambe from

Kat, here is the beginning of a jaywalker…..its very slow knitting……

Especially with this one helping me!

No I am not speaking of my sock knitting experience. Although that could qualify as at least traumatic! I am knittin away on my jaywalkers for my best friend. I lost track of where I was and had to frog….sigh…

The devastation I am speaking of is not my own. My friends lost their house to a fire yesterday. You may remember them…they lost their mom in January. They have no lost everything! All the photos and mementos that make up a life, all that STUFF we think we cannot live without. No one was hurt, except for smoke inhalation. My friend Kerri couldn’t find her son for a while in the smoke but God was good and led her to him and brought them both to safety. All your prayers would be appreciated at this time.

I like the look on Rachel’s face when she met her niece Bailey! Stephen (Rae’s friend looks a little nervous)

Of course she had to lip print the forehead!

Uncle Casey is so proud!

Here’s grandma ( the wind blows constantly there and my hair is scary) (and my chins? eek!)

Here are the proud parents (Rae took this and I think her camera needs adjusting) Chelsea and my Casey look  so much alike in some ways.

Here is Steven and Jasper…

Isn’t she precious?

I am knitting baby things now. I have some booties almost finished and I am going to finish those socks.      Yes Kat I said that! I am going to knit socks……yikes!

It feels so good to have some time to blog. I should  be cleaning house but I DON’T WANT TO! I deep cleaned both of the boys rooms yesterday and rearranged them. Way to much work but everything is so organized now. All the toys are sorted into tubs and stacked on a shelf. Movies are sorted. It’s all rather scary the rooms being so neat!

We did the big trip to Casper this weekend. My daughter competed in the Destination Imagination state tournament. Her team was awesome. They received a special Renaissance award for outstanding backdrop on their set and….drumroll please……They took first place and are onto global finals in Knoxville Tennessee!  This is so exciting but also stressful. We have some major fund raising to do in the next 5 weeks. I am in charge of the yard sale.

I have been knitting up a little storm here. I finished two purses. This one I did for my niece and it was delivered this weekend. It was a fun project and got rid of that trellis yarn I’ve had for 3 years. Very much a purse for a 5th grader doncha think? The pattern is the Balloon Bag . I found it on Ravelry.

This one is the one I am in love with. I am going to make another and make it deeper so it can be my Bible cover. The pattern is chunky cabled bag from Knitpicks.  Knitting time was less than 2 hours. I found the lining in my mothers scrap bin. I love love love this purse! (note I found a new victim for purse holding- this one is equally as cute as my old one )

And while I was in Casper I spotted a very darling leprechaun! One a mother can be proud of!

Tomorow I will post the pictures of my grandchild!
